English Literacy Privilege
Because English is the language of learning & business in South Africa, 90% of us raised in a different language in our first years might be at some disadvantage….
Ever had a thought about the effect of English Literacy Privilege?
You can’t blame the 10% mother tongue speakers for having it so much easier, but please spare a thought and join the club of language Transferees…

(A language Transferee is a person who transfers daily from his/her natural language to English and back, in order to make a living)

This story is about the English privilege mindset and portrays the difference between a mother tongue English speaker and the English second language user.
It is about the reality of 'playing catch-up' your entire life and the challenges it entails for Second language users... BUT, this is a success story...  with determination, hard work and the commitment of his family, #determindeddumisa managed to overcome the barriers which Transferees face.

Remember...
  • This has nothing to do with anything you have done! Not for the 10%, nor the 90%.
  • Always be proud of your mother tongue and make an effort to develop and maintain it! It remains your most valuable tool in your life.
  • Bridge your English Literacy Gaps to set yourself up for success - it is POSSIBLE!

Our heart going into 2019 is to take South-Africans on THE GREAT ENGLISH ADVENTURE.
We are a PEOPLE EMPOWERMENT company,  accomplishing this by raising English literacy levels.
